Filming Top Oxford Choir in Kibworth

Freya Louisa Eden-Ellis sent a message to the members of The Kibworth Community.

Subject: Filming Top Oxford Choir in Kibworth

Hello everyone

Another quick message from us - we'll be in Kibworth on Saturday May 1st to film the prestigious choir of Merton College, Oxford, performing at St Wilfrid's Church.

They last performed in Kibworth in 2008, raising funds for their Choral Foundation. Since then, they have appointed to new directors of Music:

Peter Philips, founder of the world famous Tallis Scholars, with an international reputation in the world of Renaissance music and author and columnist for the Spectator and Musical Times. More »

Ben Nicholas, who was an Organ Scholar at Chichester Cathedral, Lincoln College Oxford and St Paul's Cathedral. He also directed the Schola Cantorum at Tewkesbury alongside working with many other choirs and opera groups.

In the past 18 months, under their new directors, the choir have performed in Winchester Cathedral, The Temple Church, London, St George's Chapel, Windsor and Notre Dame Cathedral.

The concert will emphasise the link between Kibworth and Merton College, which as many of you know goes back to the 13th century when Walter de Merton bought most of the Manor of Harcourt to endow his new college in Oxford.

If you'd like to come along, the performance will be at 7:30 in St Wilfrid's Church on Sat 1st May. Tickets cost £7.50 unreserved or £10 for reserved premium tickets. These are available from 6th April at the Kibworth Post Office, Ireland and Longhill or by calling 0116 279 2493 for them to be posted with no extra charge.

Make a note in your diary and come and join us!

Freya Louisa Eden-Ellis sent a message to the members of The Kibworth Community.

Subject: Kibworth History Roadshow

Hi all

Following on from our last post telling you about our upcoming Kibworth History Roadshow, we'd like to hear from you!

On Saturday 20th March we're once again asking everyone in Kibworth and Smeeton to get involved and help us find out more about the villages' history.

Do you have an item of historical interest? Be it a document, photograph, household implement, tool, weapon or even a piece of industrial machinery, then please let us know - we'd love to see it, hear it's story and make it a part of the English Story. More »

If you do have something to share with us, it will really help us in our planning if you could download the registration form from our website and email it to us via england@mayavisionint.com

Please spread the word to friends and family in the Kibworth or Smeeton area to make this event a great success!

We await your emails and calls with anticipation!

All best
